Episcopalians honour St Tikhon

The martyred Oscar Romero, the Catholic Archbishop of San Salvador (who would be honored with the “Martyrs of El Salvador” on March 24), and the Eastern Orthodox Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow, who was persecuted by the Bolsheviks for confessing the Faith; he is to be honored on April 7.

Is this the first time Anglicans have commemorated an Orthodox saint since the Great Schism of 1054?

I think the Episcopal Church has had St Sergius of Radonezh in its calendar for at least 20 years.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if Common Worship or its predecessor in the Church of England, the Alternative Services Book, has/had him and/or some like him listed. (I don’t remember – I wasn’t an avid fan of the ASB.)

I’m pretty sure St. Sergius isn’t on the Episcopal Calendar. And I think the only Orthodox Saints are people like John Chrysostum who were carried over, pre-schism, from the Roman Catholics.

Incidentally, tribes seems to use blogger for its blogs. At least this one is a blogger blog.
